It’s a strange feeling being told you have a serious sports injury. It’s a strange sinking surreal feeling. The first time I tore my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) I was told it was sprained ligaments and I would be fine in 6 weeks. 2 months later, I was told what was actually wrong and that sports was off the table for 8 months. This was a tough swallow for a kid who was cycling and running every day on top of american football and hockey. I’m beginning this blog as someone who has gone through the surgery, the recovery and the emotions of this injury before. This will be my 2nd time through the process. I write this to document the recovery. I write this to try to keep my sanity. I write this because I can’t run from my problems now. 1 week until surgery. Two ligaments cross in the knee and I… have one less than passers by. Unfortunately that makes all the difference.
